Tay Ninh home repurposes old tiles for new porch design

A two-generation family home in Tay Ninh has been designed using repurposed materials from a demolished previous residence. Fish-scale tiles salvaged from the old house were used to roof four porches, including two located within the interior of the home to evoke traditional Vietnamese living spaces.

Built on a 175 m² plot, the two-story structure occupies less than half of the land, leaving the remainder for front and back gardens. To prevent family members from feeling isolated on a long, narrow lot, the living spaces are divided into two blocks connected by a central corridor, garden, and open spaces. This layout facilitates natural light and ventilation while creating communal areas for dining, studying, and relaxation. The design primarily utilizes raw red brick and the reclaimed old tiles to maintain a rustic aesthetic and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
