The Israeli military has declared the West Bank village of Taybeh a closed military zone for non-residents. The decision follows escalating violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the region. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the order specifically targets Israelis and does not apply to Palestinians. The military stated that troops are being dispatched to disperse gatherings and detain suspects to maintain order and protect residents.

Taybeh, one of the few remaining Christian villages in the West Bank and home to the Taybeh Brewing Co, has faced increasing tension. In June, settlers reportedly obstructed Palestinian firefighters from extinguishing a large blaze near the village. This follows a U.N. inquiry which concluded that Israeli authorities were directly involved in settler attacks that resulted in the death, injury, and displacement of Palestinians.

While parts of Taybeh fall under the civil administration of the Palestinian Authority (Area B), security remains a coordinated effort with Israeli authorities. Several Western nations have previously announced sanctions against settler groups in response to such violence.
