Taylor Farms failed to report many workplace injuries

A review of federal records by Reuters indicates that Taylor Farms, North America’s largest salad producer, has frequently failed to submit federally required workplace injury logs. The company is currently under scrutiny following a cyclospora outbreak linked to its lettuce from Mexico, which has resulted in two deaths and thousands of illnesses in the United States.

Between 2021 and 2025, at least 17 Taylor Farms facilities were required to file these reports based on employee numbers and work nature, yet the company’s reporting rate remains well below the industry average of 78%. The investigation found that at least four facilities failed to submit logs despite workers suffering fatal or serious injuries.

Taylor Farms acknowledged the gaps in electronic submission of its 300A log summary forms, stating that the issues have been addressed and that employee safety remains a core operational priority.
