Taylor Farms recalls 223,000 products amid Salmonella outbreak

Taylor Farms (operating as Taylor Fresh Foods Inc.) has issued a massive recall of over 223,000 product units due to potential Salmonella contamination. The FDA has classified the recall of 23 different products as Class I, the most serious category, following reports of widespread illness.

To date, 431 people have reportedly fallen ill across 32 US states, with 57 hospitalizations recorded. The affected items include fresh jalapeños, guacamole, salsa, dips, sandwiches, shrimp salads, and large containers intended for the food service sector.

While initial announcements listed 26 states, FDA enforcement documents indicate the products were distributed in 27 states, including North Carolina. The distribution spanned a wide geographic area, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Texas, and several other states.
