Taylor Sheridan drives major growth for Paramount+ and Western genre

Taylor Sheridan has become a highly influential creator in modern television, particularly through his work with Paramount+. His various series have reportedly generated approximately US$800 million for the streaming platform by driving subscriber growth and retention. Notable titles include Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King, while the Landman series has also emerged as a significant performer.

Sheridan is credited with spearheading a resurgence of the Western genre on screen. Before his television success with the Yellowstone franchise, he contributed to a cinematic revitalization of the genre through a trilogy of crime dramas based on his scripts: Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River. The latter, which stars Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, is set near the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming.

Following his success, Sheridan signed a deal with NBCUniversal in 2025 valued at over US$1 billion. This agreement includes his film work starting in 2026 and television projects beginning in 2029.
