Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone Spin‑off Faces Production Hurdles Without Creator

Taylor Sheridan, creator of the hit series Yellowstone, had limited involvement in the spin‑off Dutton Ranch, which premiered earlier this year. Actor Cole Hauser said the absence of Sheridan “changed everything” on set, noting challenges that the cast and crew had to resolve on the fly. Fellow Yellowstone alumni Kelly Reilly, Finn Little and executive‑producer/director Christina Voros also commented on adapting without Sheridan’s guidance.

Paramount announced that Sheridan will move to NBCUniversal in 2028 after his current contract ends. Paramount retains the Dutton franchise rights, while streaming rights to Yellowstone were sold to Peacock. Despite production issues, Dutton Ranch has been renewed for a second season.
