Taylor Swift breaks VMA records while omitting Travis Kelce from speeches

Taylor Swift set a new record at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, becoming the most-awarded artist in the ceremony's history. Her wins included Video of the Year for ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, Best Direction for ‘Opalite’, and the inaugural Artist Director Honors.

During her acceptance speeches, Swift did not mention her husband, Travis Kelce. Sources indicate this was a deliberate choice to keep the focus on her musical achievements and to avoid ‘Taylor-and-Travis fatigue’ following intense public interest in their relationship and recent wedding. The omission was reportedly intended to protect the privacy of their marriage from overexposure rather than reflecting any personal issues between the couple.

Kelce, who was unable to attend the ceremony due to a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Miami Dolphins, showed support for Swift via social media.
