Taylor Swift releases Toy Story 5 song inspired by Randy Newman

Taylor Swift has released “I Knew It, I Knew You,” an original song written for the Toy Story 5 soundtrack in collaboration with Jack Antonoff. The track marks a return to Swift’s country music roots.

Swift expressed her intention to honor the musical legacy of Randy Newman, the composer behind much of the franchise’s music. She noted that she and Antonoff attempted to channel Newman’s unique musical sensibilities and distinctive chord progressions. Swift confirmed that Newman has heard the song and gave it his approval.

During the Toy Story 5 premiere in June, Swift and Newman performed a duet of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” Swift has also been engaging with country radio programmers to support the single's release.
