Taylor Swift reflects on 20-year career at Grammy Museum

Taylor Swift participated in a special retrospective titled ‘The Icon Sessions with Taylor Swift: A 20-Year Retrospective’ at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. Hosted by Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., the session explored two decades of her songwriting and musical evolution.

During the discussion, Swift reflected on her early experiences in Nashville and the production processes of her music. She revealed that her 2012 hit ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ was originally written as a somber piano ballad before being transformed into a high-energy pop track with electronic and dubstep influences through collaboration with producers Max Martin and Shellback.

Swift also shared her personal philosophy for managing the intense pressure of global stardom. She described a mental mantra used to navigate fame and media scrutiny, stating: ‘You chose this. You choose this every day. You could have stopped everything any day before it became unmanageable.’ She emphasized that her commitment to her career is driven by a genuine love for music, which makes the challenges of her profession worthwhile.
