Taylor Swift's Toy Story 5 song tops UK and US charts

Taylor Swift co‑wrote and performed the original song “I Knew It, I Knew You” for the Pixar‑Disney film Toy Story 5. The single debuted at number 1 on the United Kingdom’s Official Singles Chart, recording the biggest sales week of any single in the country this year with 71,000 units sold. In the United States it entered the Billboard Hot 100 at the top spot, displacing Ariana Grande’s long‑running lead.

The Toy Story 5 soundtrack, featuring a new score by Randy Newman, has been released on streaming platforms and is available in physical formats such as vinyl and CD. Olivia Rodrigo’s new album also topped the UK album chart, selling just under 103,000 copies in its first week and becoming the youngest non‑British artist to move 100,000 units in an opening week since Britney Spears.

Swift explained that the song was inspired by an early screening of the film and the character Jessie, and that she and longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff wrote the track in less than eight hours. The soundtrack’s success underscores the crossover appeal of the film’s music across both pop and soundtrack markets.
