Taz-Zorb operator to testify at inquest into fatal jumping castle accident

Rosemary Gamble, the owner of Taz-Zorb, is set to give evidence via video link at an inquest regarding a 2021 tragedy that killed six primary school students. The incident occurred at Hillcrest Primary School when a sudden dust devil wind gust lifted an inflatable jumping castle into the air.

The victims were identified as Addison Stewart, Chace Harrison, Jye Sheehan, Jalailah Jayne-Maree Jones, Peter Dodt, and Zane Mellor. While Ms. Gamble was cleared of criminal workplace health and safety breaches in 2025, a magistrate previously noted she could have done more to secure the equipment, though such efforts likely would not have changed the outcome.

During the inquest, investigators are examining the business relationship between Taz-Zorb and the school, as well as the procurement of the castle from Chinese supplier East Inflatables. Testimony has revealed the castle was tethered at four of its eight anchorage points. Ms. Gamble is expected to address whether the equipment included an instruction manual, while a worker testified that decisions regarding the number of pegs used were based on weather and ground conditions.
