TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ launches empty seat tracking for train passengers

Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, has announced the launch of the ‘Boş Yer Takip Butonu’ (Empty Seat Tracking Button) feature by TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ. This digital tool is designed to assist passengers who are unable to find available tickets for their desired train journeys.

Under the new system, passengers can register their email addresses to receive automatic notifications if seats become available due to cancellations, refunds, or other reasons. This eliminates the need for travelers to constantly refresh ticket sales screens. Once a notification is received, passengers must still manually complete the purchase through the system to secure the seat.

In addition to the tracking feature, the ministry highlighted ongoing digital transformation efforts. As of September 1, 2026, TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ has implemented e-ticket and e-invoice services. Passengers can now access their e-tickets via links in their travel information emails, and digital invoicing aims to reduce costs and environmental impact by minimizing the need for paper and physical archiving.
