TCE-MS counselors face trial over R$ 106 million asset freeze request
The Court of Justice of Mato Grosso do Sul (TJMS) has scheduled a trial regarding a Public Prosecutor's appeal to freeze assets worth up to R$ 106 million and remove two counselors from the State Court of Accounts (TCE-MS), Waldir Neves Barbosa and Iran Coelho das Neves.
The legal action stems from allegations of fraud and manipulation in a public bidding process involving Dataeasy Consultoria e Informática Ltda. While a lower court judge previously dismissed the case on procedural grounds, the Prosecution is appealing to allow the process to proceed.
In a separate criminal sphere, the case involving potential corruption charges is currently at the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). Defense attorneys for the counselors have argued that the alleged crimes related to bidding processes from 2017 and 2018 have already reached the statute of limitations.
