TCG Anadolu tests 5G-enabled remote robotic surgery

Turkey is conducting tests for remote robotic surgery on the TCG Anadolu warship, utilizing 5G technology to enable medical support from land-based doctors. This collaboration between the Turkish Naval Forces Command and Kocaeli University aims to make Turkey the first nation to successfully implement such capabilities on a combat vessel (Role 2 level).

Prof. Dr. Saadettin Hülagü noted that the TCG Anadolu provides a stable environment for these procedures due to its low vibration levels. The initiative is part of broader advancements in the Turkish defense industry, where localization rates have reportedly exceeded 80-85 percent.

Separately, Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) has introduced a new generation digital surgical microscope in its Department of Neurosurgery. This technology allows for 3D visualization of surgical fields, enabling surgeons, assistants, and students to monitor micro-surgeries with enhanced depth and clarity.
