TCL Solar Wins 720 MW Module Supply Deal for Queensland Solar Projects

TCL Solar has been awarded a 720 MW module supply contract by DT Infrastructure for the Smoky Creek and Guthrie's Gap solar power stations in Central Queensland, Australia. The projects, developed by Edify Energy, are slated to begin installation in early Q2 2027 and will use TCL Solar’s Back Contact (BC) modules with efficiencies up to 24.2%, backed by a 15‑year product warranty and a 30‑year performance warranty. At 720 MWp, the pair of farms will become the largest utility‑scale solar project in the world to employ back‑contact technology.

The contract adds to a wave of overseas orders secured by Chinese PV manufacturers. LONGi supplied 11 MW of bifacial modules for a solar‑storage‑diesel micro‑grid at a mine in Zimbabwe, while Trina Solar delivered modules for the 20 MW Villacé I and II projects in Spain. These deals illustrate the expanding global footprint of Chinese solar equipment makers in utility‑scale renewable energy markets.
