TCL sues Samsung over alleged false Mini LED advertising

TCL has filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics in a US federal court in Los Angeles, alleging false advertising regarding its Mini LED television models. The Chinese manufacturer claims that Samsung is misrepresenting its 2026 M-series televisions by marketing low-end, non-Mini LED LCD products as premium Mini LED models.

TCL argues that Samsung is using older, recycled product lines with edge-lit technology to deceive consumers into paying a premium for features that lack the brightness and contrast improvements associated with true Mini LED technology, which typically requires backlight zoning. TCL is seeking an injunction to stop the marketing practices and is requesting unspecified monetary damages.

Samsung has responded by stating it will defend itself, asserting that it “fully supports the quality and accuracy of our product descriptions.” The legal dispute highlights intensifying competition in the global television market, as brands vie for dominance in high-end display technologies like Mini LED and OLED.
