TCM-PA launches initiative to increase permanent teaching staff in Pará

The Tribunal de Contas dos Municípios do Estado do Pará (TCM-PA) held a ceremony in Belém to sign the Termo de Ajustamento de Gestão (TAG) do Magistério. The initiative involves 77 municipalities and 55 city councils, aiming to regularize the workforce of permanent basic education professionals in public municipal networks.

The program seeks to align local staffing with the National Education Plan (PNE), which establishes a goal of having at least 70% of teachers as permanent, civil service employees. This follows a TCM-PA diagnostic showing that only 32.6% of Pará's municipalities currently meet the PNE's requirement of 90% permanent teachers.

Under the agreement, municipal executives must follow a specific timeline: conducting a current staffing assessment within 30 days, submitting a bill for personnel adjustment to the local council within 120 days, and working toward long-term compliance. Participation in the TAG is voluntary and, for those who join, temporarily suspends the TCM-PA's analysis of temporary teaching contracts.
