TCR South America launches inaugural simracing competition

TCR South America has entered the digital motorsport arena with its first simracing event, the Copa Master. Organized by the Sim Racer League and hosted on the iRacing platform, the competition took place on a virtual recreation of the Interlagos circuit.

In the first race, Argentina's Luciano Espiñeira secured victory, narrowly defeating Ayrton Araya by 0.266 seconds, with Manuel Saralegui finishing third. The second race featured a reversed grid and was won by Marcelo Reales, who utilized a fuel management strategy to avoid a pit stop and take the lead on the final lap. Mauricio Lamberto and Bruno Reales rounded out the podium in second and third, respectively.

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between virtual and real-world racing. Top performers from the Copa Master will receive rewards including VIP experiences at upcoming TCR South America race dates. For instance, Espiñeira will participate in a VIP Lap with Honda Racing during the championship round in Rosario, while other winners will gain access to pit lane experiences to interact with teams and drivers.
