TCS expands AI deployment team and secures ABB network operations deal
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced a multi‑year, multi‑million‑dollar contract with ABB to manage the Swiss‑Swedish industrial group's global network operations using an AI‑driven Network‑as‑a‑Service model. The agreement expands TCS’s role from infrastructure management to end‑to‑end network design, integration, security and monitoring, and triggered a share‑price rally of more than 5‑6%.
In parallel, TCS disclosed plans to create a specialised workforce of up to 8,900 forward‑deployed AI engineers – roughly 1 % to 1.5 % of its total staff – who will embed with client sites to accelerate AI adoption. The company is also evaluating acquisitions in artificial intelligence, data security and cybersecurity to complement the new talent push. TCS’s AI‑related revenue growth slowed to 13 % in the most recent quarter, with annualised AI services revenue now around $2.6 billion, while it continues to invest about $1 billion annually in talent development.
