TCU revokes media credentials for Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Texas Christian University (TCU) has rescinded media credentials for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram following the publication's reporting on a locker room altercation involving football players. The university stated the decision was made because the coverage resulted in threats to a student-athlete.

The dispute stems from the dismissal of senior safety Jacob Fields on August 18 for violating team rules. The Star-Telegram reported that the dismissal followed a physical altercation in the locker room. Initial reports suggested Fields felt targeted by teammates with insults and threats, and that coaching staff failed to de-escalate the tension.

Following the initial report, wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma posted a now-deleted Instagram video in which he identified himself as the victim, claiming Fields hit him from behind and caused him to lose consciousness. TCU maintains that the newspaper's reporting endangered the well-being of its student-athlete, justifying the revocation of credentials for all TCU athletics programs.
