TDP and Construction Contractors discuss property rights

A delegation from the Cyprus Turkish Construction Contractors Association, led by President Cafer Gürcafer, met with the Communal Democracy Party (TDP) to discuss challenges facing the construction industry.

The discussions focused on legal uncertainties regarding real estate and property rights, which are viewed as significant barriers to investment. TDP Chairman Zeki Çeler emphasized that property issues cannot be resolved through individual lawsuits or criminal threats alone. Instead, he called for a comprehensive political solution involving compensation, exchange, and restitution, supported by a mechanism including legal experts and industry representatives.

Participants noted that the sector's sustainability depends on a transparent, predictable, and law-based investment environment that addresses planning, licensing, and access to finance.
