TDP leader Zeki Çeler says Cyprus solution hope becomes widespread

Zeki Çeler, head of the Society of Turkish Democracy Party (TDP), told programmes that the desire for a solution to the Cyprus problem has become a common expectation across society and that the drive for a settlement is gaining strength each day. He said the party is intensifying its work, supporting the Communal Democracy Party (CTP) in municipalities it already controls and backing Mehmet Harmancı for the Nicosia Turkish Municipality.

Çeler criticised proposals to abolish the mixed‑voting system as stemming from political fear within the National Unity Party (UBP) and suggested that lowering the electoral threshold and discussing alliance systems are linked to potential new government formations. He also asserted that Turkey views the Cyprus process positively and that UN Secretary‑General Antonio Guterres’s visit was intended to leave a lasting imprint before his term ends. In a direct appeal to voters, Çeler asked citizens to "stamp" their support on the TDP, emphasizing a platform of transparency, honesty, and the implementation of a universal health insurance system for all residents.
