Tea and Coffee Consumption Linked to Lower Heart and Liver Cancer Risks
Research in Hungary highlights that regular tea drinking can lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. Cardiologist Dr. Tim Bond noted, “The daily intake of tea can do a lot for our heart health,” and suggested four cups a day to maximise benefits such as reduced blood pressure, inflammation and clotting.
A large British study of 354,000 people found that habitual coffee consumption is associated with a lower incidence of liver cirrhosis, liver cancer and liver‑related deaths. The effect was observed for both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee. Lead researcher Dr. Hyunseok Kim said, “The protective effect may be due to the antioxidants rather than caffeine.” Risk reductions grew with higher intake, reaching a 47% lower liver‑cancer risk for those drinking five or more cups daily.
