Teacher from Poza Rica found murdered in Puebla

Gerardo Ávalos García, a 74-year-old teacher from Cbtis 78 in Poza Rica, Veracruz, was found dead with signs of violence on Friday, September 11. His body was discovered alongside the Mexico-Tuxpan highway in the El Ramal section of Jalpan, Puebla, approximately two hours away from Poza Rica.

Mr. Ávalos had been missing since Wednesday, September 9, after leaving his home in a Toyota RAV4 to participate in local sports activities. His family reported losing communication with him one hour after his departure. The victim's body was found partially undressed and covered with a tarp; he was later identified by his relatives in Xicotepec de Juárez.

The Comunidad Feministas de Poza Rica collective has called for a thorough investigation to identify those responsible, urging authorities and the Governor of Veracruz, Rocío Nahle, to ensure justice is served without omissions.
