Teacher in Niassa protests salary deduction by taking director's motorcycle

A teacher at Meluluca Primary School in the Lago district of Niassa province took a school director's motorcycle and food supplies in protest against a salary deduction. The deduction, amounting to approximately 500 meticais, was applied following a recorded absence in the teacher's attendance sheet.

According to school director Jaime Saide Malenga, the teacher entered his residence and removed the motorcycle with the alleged intention of selling it to recover the lost wages. Following a police report, authorities recovered the vehicle and returned it to the director.

However, the incident continued after the police intervention. The teacher reportedly returned to the director's residence to take food items, including pasta, milk, and sugar, to further compensate for the salary cut. The matter has been referred to the District Service of Education, Youth, and Technology of Lago for administrative action.
