Teacher in Palermo removed following allegations of filming students
A sixth-grade teacher at the Granaderos de San Martín School in Palermo, identified as Roxana Carolina Cayo, has been removed from her position following complaints from students and parents. The allegations include the teacher using her mobile phone to film students and punishing those who refused to be recorded by denying them recess.
Families also reported that the teacher requested sensitive personal information during class activities. Students were allegedly instructed to draw national identity cards (DNI) and write down their home addresses and frequently visited locations.
The Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires has launched an administrative investigation and reported the case to the judiciary. It was further revealed that Cayo had a prior criminal record for manslaughter related to the death of her six-month-old daughter and had been a fugitive for four years before serving a five-year disqualification from the educational system, which ended this August.
