Teacher killed in armed attack at secondary school in Oaxaca

Levi Peralta Regalado, a 44-year-old academic coordinator at Escuela Secundaria Técnica número 69, was killed in an armed attack inside the school in San Blas Atempa, Oaxaca. According to reports, armed individuals entered the institution and shot the teacher. Although he was transported to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The incident caused immediate alarm within the school community, leading to the suspension of classes and the early release of students to their parents. State police and the Oaxaca Prosecutor's Office have responded to the scene, deploying multidisciplinary teams from the State Investigation Agency to conduct field work and forensic analysis.

In response to the killing, the SNTE-CNTE Section 22 union issued a statement condemning the violence and demanding that federal, state, and municipal authorities identify and arrest those responsible. The union highlighted the alarming levels of insecurity in the Istmo de Tehuantepec region and called for urgent measures to ensure that educational institutions remain safe spaces for students and staff.
