Teacher Liam Quinn banned from profession over Twitch misconduct

Liam Quinn, a 32-year-old former IT and Computing teacher at Audenshaw School in Greater Manchester, has been banned from the teaching profession indefinitely. The decision follows an investigation into his conduct on the streaming platform Twitch.

A misconduct panel heard that Quinn used a secondary account to communicate with a child, using Google Translate to ask them to remove their shorts. Quinn told Greater Manchester Police that he viewed the interaction as a “stupid joke” intended to provoke a reaction or trigger a platform ban, describing his behavior as “trolling.”

In 2024, Quinn received a conditional caution from police for causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. The misconduct panel described his actions as “exceptionally serious,” noting that his conduct could expose pupils to harmful behavior. The panel also noted that Quinn showed limited insight or remorse regarding the impact of his actions.
