Teacher Sarini Md Yusuf rescued after falling into well in Pasir Mas, Malaysia
A 56‑year‑old teacher, Sarini Md Yusuf, slipped into a 5.48‑metre deep well while fetching water at her home in Kampung Bata Chicha Tinggi, Pasir Mas, Kelantan, Malaysia on the morning of 1 August. The incident was reported to the Pasir Mas Fire and Rescue Department at 07:50, and a six‑person rescue team, led by Senior Fire Officer Asraf Mat Naizi, arrived shortly thereafter. Using specialised rope‑rescue equipment, the crew lifted the victim from the well and handed her over to Ministry of Health personnel for further care at Hospital Lati.
Sarini sustained only minor abrasions to her back and was reported to be in stable condition. She was later transferred to a local hospital in Pasir Mas for treatment and is expected to return to teaching after recovery. The fire department confirmed that the well had been covered with a net, suggesting the fall occurred while the teacher was drawing water.
