Teacher suspended in Veracruz over school map assignment dispute

A substitute teacher, identified as José “N”, has been removed from his position at the Luis Donaldo Colosio elementary school in Martínez de la Torre, Veracruz, following a dispute with a parent.

The conflict began when the teacher assigned sixth-grade students an academic task to draw a sketch (croquis) of the route from their homes to the school. A parent, identified as Karina “N” and a member of the school's Parents' Association, confronted the teacher, expressing concerns that the activity could be used to determine the locations of the children. The confrontation was recorded and circulated on social media, where the mother was nicknamed “Lady Croquis” by internet users.

While school administrators clarified that drawing routes is a standard part of the basic curriculum, the mother filed a formal legal complaint. In addition to questioning the assignment, the complaint included allegations of inappropriate behavior by the teacher. As the investigation proceeds, the teacher has been suspended from his duties, resulting in the loss of his primary source of income.
