Poland's education sector marks National Education Day amid protests

Educational institutions and workers across Poland are marking National Education Day through various ceremonies, infrastructure improvements, and organized protests.

In Zakopane, a new sports hall costing over 7.4 million PLN was opened to provide students with proper facilities, ending a decade of physical education being held in corridors. Meanwhile, various regional celebrations took place in Kielce, Sierpc, Wieruszów, and the Nowosolski district, where teachers and staff received awards and recognition for their service.

In Warsaw, a significant demonstration was held by the NSZZ Solidarność education section. Led by Waldemar Jakubowski, teachers and scientists protested at Castle Square to demand better funding and to address rising concerns regarding physical safety in schools following recent violent incidents. The protesters emphasized that education is the foundation of national development and called for systemic changes to address aggression and mentalities within the school environment.
