Multiple reports of student violence and educator misconduct across several countries
Various incidents of violence and misconduct involving students and educators have been reported across several regions.
In Argentina, a mother reported that her 12-year-old daughter, who has autism, was a victim of bullying at a school in Santiago del Estero. Separately, a man was charged with performing obscene acts in front of a young girl.
In Mexico, authorities arrested a teacher in Morelia for the alleged sexual abuse of a teenager, following videos of the misconduct circulating on social media. In Veracruz, the DGETI responded to a viral video showing a physical assault between students at CETIS 15, stating that protocols are being followed but expulsion is not an option.
In the United States, a former Long Island art teacher, John Kennedy, was arrested for allegedly stalking a former student he had previously been accused of sexually abusing.
In Colombia, the Procuraduría General de la Nación filed charges against a mathematics teacher, Benigno Rafael Ospino Padilla, for continuing to teach despite being under national disciplinary sanctions.
In Bolivia, a mother reported that her 18-year-old son was physically assaulted by an instructor at the Regimiento II de Tarapacá in Coro Coro.
