Teachers face administrative disputes and harassment allegations in Bolivia and Mexico
Separate incidents of teacher disputes and administrative actions have been reported in Bolivia and Mexico.
In Bolivia, Verónica Huchani Márquez, a teacher at the Unidad Educativa Tupac Katari, has publicly denounced her school director for harassment and irregularities. Huchani claims the director failed to honor signed agreements regarding teacher working hours. She alleges that since reporting security issues in 2025, she has faced systematic persecution, mistreatment, and attempts to refer her to a disciplinary commission by the director, other teachers, and some parents. Despite submitting text messages, audio recordings, and psychiatric certifications, Huchani states that her complaints to the disciplinary tribunal have not received a resolution.
In Mexico, the Secretary of Public Education of Hidalgo (SEPH) has removed a mathematics teacher, identified as Elena “N”, from her duties at Escuela Secundaria Técnica número 1 in Pachuca. The separation follows an administrative procedure regarding alleged school bullying. While state authorities determined the separation was due to a failure to comply with school coexistence agreements, the teacher denies the allegations. Elena “N” claims she is facing workplace harassment and a campaign against her, noting that she has faced pressure regarding her position for nearly a year.
