Teachers in Delhi and Faridabad face workload conflicts over electoral roll duties
Teachers in Delhi and Faridabad are facing increased workloads due to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. In Delhi, members of the Government Teachers’ Association have raised concerns that being assigned as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) is conflicting with the preparation for mid-term examinations, which are scheduled to begin on September 14.
In Faridabad, the District Education Officer (DEO) has issued a warning to faculty members against neglecting regular classes to perform SIR duties. The DEO ordered that election-related work should be conducted from within school premises whenever possible. Teachers required to be at external polling locations must notify school heads in advance. The directive follows reports that classroom instruction has been disrupted by teacher absences related to electoral roll verification and form collection.
