Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria warns of certification fraud

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has issued a warning regarding a wave of fraudulent activities targeting teachers and aspiring educators. Scammers are reportedly impersonating TRCN officials and using the council’s name, logo, and identity to swindle individuals through fake registration, certification, and licensing services.

Dr. Ronke Soyombo, the Registrar and Chief Executive of the TRCN, clarified in a statement from Abuja that the council has not authorized any agents, consultants, third parties, or staff members to collect fees or handle official processes outside of established procedures. She emphasized that the council’s official website, www.trcn.gov.ng, is the only approved online platform for its programs and services.

The TRCN cautioned the public against making payments into private bank accounts and warned that any certificates or licenses obtained through unofficial channels are “fake, invalid and not recognised by the council.” Stakeholders are urged to disregard suspicious information shared via WhatsApp, email, and social media. Those who have fallen victim to these scams are advised to report the incidents to security agencies and the council through official channels.
