Teachers reject temporary classrooms for Virgen de la Puerta students

Teachers in Orihuela are protesting a proposal to install temporary barracks at the IES Las Espeñetas institute to accommodate students from the CEIP Virgen de la Puerta. The CEIP Virgen de la Puerta was closed at the start of the school year due to structural issues, forcing approximately 300 students to relocate to other centers.

The Teachers' Assembly argues that this measure is a temporary fix that fails to address the underlying lack of planning. They highlight that IES Las Espeñetas is already facing its own structural problems, including propped-up classrooms and pending expansion works. Furthermore, the proposal would require students to use external parks and sports facilities as playground spaces, necessitating them to cross a road to access the area.
