Team Canada wins ISBHF men’s legends ball hockey World Championship

Team Canada secured the gold medal at the International Street and Ball Hockey Federation (ISBHF) men’s legends (44-plus) World Championship held in the Czech Republic. The 23-player Canadian roster remained undefeated throughout the tournament, posting a 6-0 record in round-robin play before defeating host Czechia 4-2 in the semifinals. Canada ultimately won the gold medal game against Slovakia with a 3-2 victory on August 1.

Saanich resident Aidan Kulas, a defenceman and the only player from Vancouver Island on the national squad, contributed significantly to the win by scoring four goals and providing one assist across eight games. Kulas, who previously served as an assistant coach for Canada’s men’s master’s team, joined the roster as a late addition by general manager François Chalut. His transition to ball hockey followed a career-ending leg injury during his ice hockey career.
