CD Projekt Red announces Witcher 3 expansion “Songs of the Past” for 2027

CD Projekt Red officially confirmed that a third story expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled **Songs of the Past**, will launch in 2027. The DLC will be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and is being co‑developed with the studio Fool’s Theory, known for work on The Thaumaturge and the upcoming Witcher remake.

The announcement followed a brief leak on the Polish‑language Witcher launcher, prompting the studio to move the reveal forward. Alongside the DLC news, CD Projekt Red said the game’s minimum PC system requirements will be upgraded to match the new content – DirectX 12, Windows 11, a modern CPU (Intel i5‑8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600) and a GPU such as GTX 1660, with a 12 GB RAM minimum and a 70 GB SSD.

Market reaction included a modest drop in CD Projekt Red’s shares, as investors weighed the delayed launch of Witcher 4 against the added value of the new expansion. The DLC is expected to reconnect players with Geralt of Rivia and may serve as a narrative bridge to the forthcoming Witcher 4, where Ciri will take the lead.
