Team Chile wins 17 medals at Pan American Water Skiing Championship
The Chilean national water skiing team secured 17 medals at the 2026 IWWF Pan American Championship held in Paraguay. The medal tally included 10 golds, two silvers, and five bronzes, placing Chile third in the overall country rankings behind the United States and Canada.
Martín Labra emerged as a standout performer, earning multiple medals including gold in the U21 category and an overall gold. Other notable contributors included 11-year-old Cristóbal Miranda, who won four medals in the U14 category, as well as gold medalists Daniela Kretschmer and Samuel Browne in the U21 slalom finals.
Santiago “Pepi” Barrientos earned a silver medal in the U21 jump final with a mark of 54.5 meters. This performance marks a significant return to competition for Barrientos following a serious accident in Melbourne, Australia, earlier this year that resulted in spinal fractures.
