Team GB eyes five England rugby stars for 2028 LA Olympic sevens squad

Team Great Britain is reportedly in talks with five England rugby union internationals – Henry Pollock, Marcus Smith, Tommy Freeman, Henry Arundell and Noah Caluori – about switching to rugby sevens for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The players are said to be negotiating release clauses that would allow them to pause their 15‑a‑side club commitments and focus on Olympic preparation, mirroring the pathway taken by France’s Antoine Dupont before the Paris 2024 Games. Wales winger Louis Rees‑Zammit and Scotland’s Darcy Graham have also been mentioned as potential targets for the GB sevens program. Team GB previously won silver in Rio 2016 and finished fourth in Tokyo 2020, but missed qualification for Paris 2024 after a loss to South Africa in the final repechage.
