Team Japan holds send-off ceremony for 2026 Asian Games

The Japanese national delegation, TEAM JAPAN, held a formal send-off ceremony in Tokyo ahead of the 20th Asian Games to be held in Aichi and Nagoya in 2026. The event included a media summit where athletes shared their ambitions for the upcoming multi-sport competition.

In the eSports category, the Japan Esports Union (JESU) announced that 25 representative athletes will compete in 7 disciplines across 9 titles. The eSports competition is scheduled to begin on September 23. JESU is also launching a social media campaign to support the athletes.

Karate athlete Hashiru Nishiyama, a multi-time world champion, expressed his determination to win gold on home soil. Nishiyama, who has held a dominant position in international karate series, stated his goal is to secure a gold medal in front of his supporters and family during the games.
