Team Penske swaps pit crews for Blaney and Cindric
Team Penske has announced a pit crew swap between its No. 2 and No. 12 teams ahead of the NASCAR Chase. Ryan Blaney, the 2023 Cup Series champion, will now be serviced by the No. 2 crew, which is statistically superior to his previous crew. Blaney’s former crew had lost a series-worst 129 positions on pit road during the season.
Blaney noted that while he did not request the change, he welcomes the opportunity to reunite with several former crew members, including jackman Jourdan Osinskie, who was part of his championship-winning team. Blaney has been working to build chemistry with the new group, which includes new members Justin Armwood and Geoffrey Wall.
Austin Cindric, who is seeded 15th, will take over the No. 12 crew. Both drivers indicated that the decision was made by Team Penske leadership to optimize the organization’s chances of winning the championship over the final 10 weeks of the season.
