Team Yandex wins BLAST SLAM VIII Dota 2 championship

Team Yandex has claimed the BLAST SLAM VIII Dota 2 championship after defeating Team Spirit 3-1 in a best-of-five grand final on October 12, 2026. The victory earns Yandex a grand prize of US$270,000 and marks their second major tournament win of the 2026-2027 competitive season, following their win at PGL Wallachia Season 9.

Team Spirit finished in second place, receiving US$135,000. Before the grand finals, Spirit secured their spot by completing a comeback against PARIVISION in the lower bracket, winning the series 2-1 after trailing 0-1. This tournament marked Spirit's first appearance with a roster featuring Bohdan “Batyuk” Batiuk and coach Ilya “IllidanSTR” Pevcaev.

Team Yandex's recent success is attributed in part to the signing of offlaner Ammar “ATF” Assaf. The team demonstrated dominance throughout the event, having previously secured top seeds in the group stages and defeating opponents such as LGD Gaming and PARIVISION during the playoffs.
