Team17 announces The Escapists 3 for 2027

Team17 has announced The Escapists 3, the first fully three-dimensional installment in the prison break series. Moving away from the top-down perspective of previous titles, the new game will feature a 3D sandbox environment where players can craft, sneak, fight, and improvise to escape.

The game is slated for a 2027 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. It will include five distinct prisons, each with unique routines, characters, and secrets. Players can collect and combine over 120 items and weapons to facilitate their escape.

New features include character progression, where players earn experience points to unlock new abilities, and cooperative play supporting up to four players online or two players via local split-screen. Escaping the prison walls may only be the beginning, as players may need to navigate forests, canyons, or catacombs to reach safety.
