TEAMER approves 30 marine energy projects with $4.7 million in support

The US Testing Expertise and Access to Marine Energy Research (TEAMER) program has approved 30 projects through its eighteenth Request for Technical Support (RFTS 18). The funding, totaling over $4.7 million, provides Technical Support Recipients with access to numerical modeling, laboratory testing, tank/flume testing, and commercialization support via the TEAMER Facility Network.

Among the selected projects is Atargis Energy Corporation, which is seeking support for an independent technical review and validation of its CycWEC wave energy converter. The CycWEC is a submerged device utilizing two rotating hydrofoils to extract energy from ocean waves. The support, involving the TEDA Facility at Sandia National Laboratories and the National Laboratory of the Rockies, aims to validate performance and reduce technical risks as the technology moves toward full-scale ocean demonstrations.

Applications for the next funding round, RFTS 19, are being accepted until October 16, 2026.
