teamLab to open first permanent U.S. museum in Anaheim

The Japanese digital art collective teamLab has announced plans to open its first permanent museum in the United States. Located in Anaheim, California, the museum will be part of OCVIBE, a 100-acre sports, entertainment, and arts district currently under construction.

The approximately 110,000-square-foot facility is projected to open in 2030. The development is part of a larger $5 billion project surrounding the Honda Center, funded by the Samueli family. The museum building will be designed by the California-based architecture firm Smith-Clementi.

Founded in Tokyo in 2001 by Toshiyuki Inoko, teamLab utilizes a multidisciplinary team of artists, engineers, and mathematicians to create immersive environments that merge art, technology, and nature. The collective currently maintains permanent exhibition spaces in cities including Tokyo, Macao, Shanghai, Beijing, Jeddah, and Hamburg.
