teamLab to open largest museum in Ariake, Tokyo, by 2032

The art collective teamLab has announced plans to open a new, large-scale museum, tentatively named ‘teamLab TOKYO’, in the Ariake district of Tokyo. Scheduled to open in phases between 2032 and 2033, the facility will span approximately 30,000 square meters, making it the largest museum in the collective's history.

The project will be developed across two plots in the Ariake North district. The first phase, covering roughly 14,700 square meters, is expected to open in January 2032, followed by a second phase of approximately 19,000 square meters in July 2033. Each section is planned to operate for a period of approximately 10 years as a temporary cultural hub.

In addition to the digital art museum, the site will feature open spaces including a ‘small forest’, plazas, and cafes. The project also aims to foster community engagement through initiatives such as programming education for local schools. teamLab's existing Tokyo installations, ‘teamLab Borderless’ and ‘teamLab Planets’, recorded approximately 4.2 million visitors in 2025.
