TeamSystem suffers cyberattack resulting in theft of client data

TeamSystem, a leading Italian provider of business software, has reported a cyberattack targeting its ‘Contabilità in Cloud’ service. The unauthorized access, detected on August 24, resulted in the theft of sensitive personal and corporate data.

The exfiltrated information includes personal details, contact information, email addresses, phone numbers, and banking coordinates such as IBANs. While the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) stated that the incident does not directly impact individual citizens, it poses significant risks to the company’s business clients.

Experts warn that the stolen data could be used for phishing campaigns and financial fraud, specifically ‘IBAN swapping’ schemes. Users are advised to meticulously verify the identity of anyone requesting changes to billing information and to avoid clicking suspicious links requesting personal or banking details.
