TeamSystem suffers cyberattack, exposing client IBANs and accounting data
TeamSystem, a leading Italian IT company specializing in payroll and tax compliance software, has reported a significant cyberattack. The company detected unauthorized access to its Cloud Accounting software on the afternoon of August 24.
The breach resulted in the exfiltration of sensitive data belonging to business clients and professionals. Stolen information includes personal identification data, contact details (emails and phone numbers), IBAN bank details, and accounting transaction history, such as amounts and counterparties. While user login credentials appear to remain secure, the stolen data poses high risks for financial fraud and targeted phishing campaigns, specifically IBAN swapping.
The National Cybersecurity Agency (Agenzia per la cybersicurezza nazionale) confirmed that the incident primarily affects business entities rather than individual citizens. Cybercrime expert Ranieri Razzante noted the severity of the attack, given TeamSystem’s role as a major provider for professional tax and payroll services.
