Tearca hosts annual Day of the Broad Bean festival

The municipality of Tearca hosted the “Day of the Broad Bean,” an annual event established in 2020 that celebrates the agricultural, cultural, and traditional identity of the Pollog region. The manifestation brought together farmers, schools, cultural-artistic societies, and civil society organizations.

This year’s event included international guests from Poland, featuring performances by Polla Gromulska and students from the “Mjekinja” Primary School. Local officials, including Tearca Mayor Daut Memishi, emphasized the importance of supporting local farmers and protecting traditional production.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Albrim Hoxha noted that while the broad bean is a specialty of the Strugë region, cultivation faces challenges. He stated that climate change and issues with rabbits in Tearca have visibly impacted yields and production levels.
